Technology in Healthcare

Technology is making vast improvements when it comes to overcoming communication barriers in the clinical setting. Before the recent advancements in health care, physicians were required to hand write important facts and messages. This skill is very inconsistent, causing a lot of issues when pharmacists and nurses try to clarify physician’s orders. Handwriting is an unreliable way of communication in situations where accuracy is required. Technology is improving this issue by making computers more readily available in the clinical setting, giving physicians the opportunity to express facts and messages in a clear and concise manor; eliminating the guessing game that nurses and pharmacists are playing. Therefore, the availability of computers in the hospital setting is increasing communication and making it easier for clinical professionals to work together.
